Coaching

You’ve likely heard me share with you powerful insights about your Five Element constitution and how living a life true to your nature, versus what culture dictates, might be the most powerful tool you have to achieve and maintain physical and emotional health. We become ill, physically or mentally, when we ignore or turn against who we are. Yet we don’t live in an era or environment that fosters deep self-knowledge therefore inviting us towards a lifetime journey to find and be true to ourselves.

This fall, I’m excited to offer a new facet to my practice, supporting you on your unique path to health and truth.

I recently became a certified Wayfinder Life Coach (program designed & taught by Martha Beck, PhD) and will begin offering a 90-minute combined mind/body focused coaching and acupuncture session that can be booked by current patients.

As a college student majoring in Psychology and navigating a challenging year, I became a patient of Five Element Acupuncture and had a light bulb moment that forever changed my life: this ancient medicine’s ability to treat the spirit and body offered a depth and path to balance I couldn’t turn away from and by the next year (which was over 21 years ago!!), I was enrolled at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture. My love of psychology has not diminished over these past two decades of working with the body. Integrating coaching into my practice has been a great fit for my patients who are already highly functional but desire more—more joy, more freedom, more access to true Self, with curiosity about the parts that take them away from it as well.

There may be times when it feels like engaging your mind on the story behind what brings you into a session is called for.

In addition to the Wayfinder coaching tools (happy to share more about them), my coaching philosophy is also inspired by the work of Dr. Richard Schwartz of Internal Family Systems. I have completed multiple IFS trainings through the IFS institute and hope to enroll in IFS Level 1 training in 2022, continuing my learning.

Breakdown of Costs

45-minute return acupuncture visit for established patients
$135

90-minute acupuncture and coaching
$315
(45-60 minute coaching, 45-minute acupuncture; must already be an established patient)

60-minute coaching sessions (zoom or phone)
$225

Let me be clear about the different hats my trainings offer.

First, unless you make an appointment for a coaching/acupuncture session, nothing will change with the return visits you book.  They will remain around 45 minutes, same cost, same treatments, same me!

If you choose a combined coaching and acupuncture session, the first portion of the treatment will focus on the concerns that need support and coaching.  Those concerns might include an area of least satisfaction in your life, a physical struggle you’re trying to find meaning in, an interest in learning to listen to your body and connect with its wisdom, a desire for a different future, or even a dream you’d like to engage.  Using various tools and powerful questions that spark new ways of seeing your situation, we will work together to help you let go of ways of thinking that are holding you back and trust your heart and body to guide you.  You will leave feeling more integrated and more aligned in your body and self.  There is space and support for every emotion that arises.  All parts of you are welcome.

After we finish the coaching session, an acupuncture treatment will further support your body’s balance and physical and emotional health, including spirit-level acupuncture points connected with the emotions and patterns discussed during coaching.

As in all treatments, we balance your energy, support the symptoms causing discomfort and treat your constitution in accordance with Classical Five Element Acupuncture.

I will also open a small number of zoom coaching sessions for patients who now live out of town or new clients who want to explore coaching. Reach out with any questions!

Testimonials

“…through the coaching work with Annie, I have a new relationship with myself …”

When Annie started offering coaching, I went in for a session with her on a whim, just to check it out and I was blown away by how only two sessions helped me get out of a pattern I’ve been in for decades. I realize now, I’ve been caught in a mental loop between guilt of taking care of someone else at sacrifice for caring for myself. I was never able to move forward because I would go back and forth between resentment and love. I never realized how little I was loving myself and through the coaching work with Annie, I have a new relationship with myself and for the first time in a long time, I don’t feel stuck or confused. I feel at peace and have new skills for when I get overwhelmed again. Getting acupuncture after the emotional session helped me to leave feeling grounded and clear. It was easy to work with Annie, since she already knew me so well. She’s a wise woman and I travel far to see her and it’s always the best thing I do for myself.

“…she is masterful in her approach to healing…”

Annie is one of those rare gifted individuals who has combined her natural talent and intelligence with a deep passion for the healing arts. A practitioner with a profound skill set of Classical Five Element Acupuncture and Internal Family Systems work she is masterful in her approach to healing and an absolute joy to work with.
